Volkswagen Group, headquartered in Germany and the parent company of Volkswagen Group Korea, is driving transformation to become a software-driven mobility provider.
As cars become increasingly digital and connected, software now serves as the 'brain' of the vehicle, creating a growing demand for highly skilled automotive software engineers. To meet this need, Volkswagen Group is dedicated to cultivating talent in this field.
In alignment with the Group's vision, the WE: Foundation will continue to run diverse educational programs to train the next generation of automotive software specialists who will be steering Korea's automotive sector forward.
SEA:ME (Software Engineering in Automotive and Mobility Ecosystems) is a Master’s-level program created by "42 Wolfsburg," a non-profit coding school founded by Volkswagen in Germany. This program is designed to train automotive software specialists, with a specific focus on software engineering and mobility ecosystems.
SEA:ME provides an immersive 360-degree learning experience, developed with contributions from leading experts in mobility technology, research, and education. The curriculum is continuously updated to reflect the latest trends and changes in mobility technology, providing students with up-to-date knowledge. The program's goal is to equip students with the practical skills necessary to become leading mobility software experts, ready to excel in diverse companies and institutions.
The WE: Foundation offers a variety of engaging coding classes for elementary school students. In March 2019, we launched a free-semester program for middle school students, centered on future mobility.
Our free-semester programs provide an inspiring environment where students gain hands-on coding experience and explore potential careers. The curriculum encourages students to think about the societal impacts of future mobility trends, develop mobility-related applications, and learn about various career opportunities in the automotive industry.
We aim to continue nurturing future mobility talent by establishing an MOU with local Offices of Education in Korea and developing diverse courses tailored to classroom environments.
The WE: Foundation has arranged exhibitions and contests to envision the transformative changes brought by future mobility and share ideas.
Key projects include the “Future Mobility Challenge,” where students propose creative solutions for urban traffic issues, and the “goTOzero” exhibition, focused on promoting sustainability. These initiatives aim to help people gain a deeper understanding of future society and highlight the urgent need to address climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
